Description

Clos de la Boutière is a Maranges Premier Cru on the Santenay border, half of which belongs to Bachelet-Monnot.

Maranges is the southernmost appellation of the Côte de Beaune, and its Premiers Crus remain among the better-value reds of the Côte d'Or. Boutière probably derives from an old French term for the end of the field, which fits a vineyard lying at the very end of Clos Roussots on the boundary with Santenay. The clos holds more clay than its neighbours, and that shows in the wine's added richness. The fruit comes from a single parcel of 90-year-old mass-selection vines that give both ripeness and power, and in this vintage the crop was destemmed. Compared with the more linear La Fussière, this cuvée has greater depth and texture. It sees 40% new oak, with about 30% whole bunch, which accounts for the lifted aromatics.

Drink from two years and over the following decade, with roast lamb, game birds or hard cheese, at 16 to 18°C.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
