Description
Bachelet-Monnot Puligny-Montrachet is a village white assembled mainly from five well-placed sites among the domaine's twelve parcels in the commune.
Puligny-Montrachet lies at the heart of the Côte de Beaune's white wine country, its high water table and limestone soils giving wines that lean towards aromatic lift and mineral drive rather than early richness. Domaine Bachelet-Monnot now works twelve parcels in the village, many of which feed this cuvée. The core comes from five sites: Les Meix, Les Enseignères, Corvée des Vignes, Les Noyers Bret and Les Houillères, where the youngest vines are 25 years old and the average is considerably higher. As with all the domaine's whites, the fruit fermented spontaneously and the wine was raised in 350-litre barrels, a format Marc and Alexandre Bachelet prefer for the gentler oak influence it allows. The style is true to the house reading of Puligny, with floral, lime-leaf lift and a juicy, zesty, mineral palate.
Drinkable on release and better still after two years; serve at 10–12°C with grilled snapper, chicken in white wine or a fresh goat's cheese.
