Description
Batasiolo Barbaresco DOCG is a Nebbiolo from the Langhe hills of Piedmont, made by the Dogliani family's estate based in La Morra.
Barbaresco lies north east of Alba, across the communes of Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso, where Nebbiolo ripens a little earlier than in neighbouring Barolo on calcareous marl soils. The rules require a shorter ageing period than Barolo, and the wines are generally regarded as the more perfumed and approachable of the two. Batasiolo is one of the larger family-owned estates in the Langhe, with vineyards spread across several of the area's best-known communes.
A structured red with firm tannins and bright acidity, it suits braised beef, mushroom risotto, game and aged cheeses; serve at around 18 degrees.
