Bekkers Petit Chablis 2023

Bekkers Petit Chablis is a Chardonnay from Chablis, made by Australian viticulturist Toby Bekkers and his French-born wife and winemaker Emmanuelle. The couple began making their white wine in Chablis in 2012, drawn particularly to the purity and clarity of Chardonnay from this part of Burgundy.

The Chardonnay comes from the plateau behind the village of Beines. The fruit is pressed within an hour of harvest directly to stainless steel, then cold-settled and racked clear within 48 hours. Fermentation occurs naturally at cool temperatures, followed by natural malolactic fermentation, before the wine spends three months on fine lees without stirring. It is bottled completely unoaked, keeping the focus firmly on the freshness and mineral character of Chablis.

Serve well chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees with oysters, fresh seafood, shellfish or simply as an aperitif.
