Benjamin Leroux Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers comes from a mid-slope parcel of forty-year-old Pinot Fin sitting immediately alongside Clos Saint-Jacques.

Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest commune of the Côte de Nuits, and Les Cazetiers is generally ranked with Clos Saint-Jacques and Lavaux-Saint-Jacques among its finest Premiers Crus. The vineyard runs to 8.43 hectares on a steep slope directly above the village, flanked by Clos Saint-Jacques on one side and the Combe aux Moines on the other. Jasper Morris writes in Inside Burgundy that good Cazetiers gives a feeling of refinement and precision, and that description fits the site well. Benjamin Leroux, long associated with Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard before establishing his own house, took on this parcel after Les Goulots and La Perriere returned to their growers, and this is his third release from it. His holding lies mid-slope, planted to old Pinot Fin, and the vines have been worked biodynamically for several years.

Approachable after three or four years and worth a decade in a good cellar. Serve at 16-18°C with roast duck, mushroom risotto or aged Comté.
