Benjamin Leroux Nuits Saint Georges 2021

Benjamin Leroux Nuits-Saint-Georges is a village red blended from climats on the Vosne border and from Fleurières south of the town.

Nuits-Saint-Georges is the largest of the Côte de Nuits communes and covers very different ground, from the firmer vineyards south of the town towards Premeaux to the lighter, more perfumed sites that run up against Vosne-Romanée. In generous years Leroux can bottle five wines here: this blend of climats, a village lieu-dit at Les Allots, and three premier crus from Les Cailles, Aux Thorey and Les Boudots. This blend is a roughly equal split between Aux Saint-Jacques and Aux Herbues on the Vosne side, and a parcel in the northern part of Fleurières just south of the town. The result is not the rugged style the appellation is often given credit for, but the supple, poised sort of Burgundy this grower makes across his range. Bottled under natural cork.

Drinking well from two or three years and good for eight. Serve at 16-18°C with roast lamb, mushroom pithivier or a plate of charcuterie.
