Description
Description
Benoît Moreau Bourgogne Blanc is made entirely from three parcels within Chassagne-Montrachet, on the deeper soils of the lower slope.
Benoît Moreau left the family domaine of Bernard Moreau to set up on his own account in Chassagne-Montrachet, and the range is built around the village and its premiers crus. This regional bottling is not a broad blend but comes exclusively from three parcels within the commune, on the lower, clay-rich ground below the village where the appellation reverts to Bourgogne. The vines are more than twenty years old. The wine is given the same treatment as the wines further up the range, fermented and raised in barrel with limited new oak and held for eighteen months before release, a long élevage at this level that gives the wine depth and a mineral, well-defined finish.
Drink from release to about six years; serve with roast chicken, grilled fish or a leek tart at 10-12°C.
