Bret Brothers Mâcon-Villages Terroirs du Mâconnais 2017

Bret Brothers Mâcon-Villages Terroirs du Mâconnais is a Chardonnay assembled from several sites across the Mâconnais.

The Mâcon-Villages appellation covers a broad sweep of southern Burgundy where Chardonnay grows on limestone, clay and marl, and a blend across sites is the traditional way of making a wine of balance rather than of a single character. Bret Brothers is the négociant side of the Bret family's operation at Vinzelles, where they also run the domaine La Soufrandière, and they buy only from growers who work to the standards they apply to their own vines. The fruit is whole-bunch pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and raised on lees before bottling, with little or no new oak.

An everyday Mâconnais to drink over the next three or four years, with roast chicken, grilled fish or soft cheeses. Serve at 10-12°C.
