Bret Brothers Mâcon-Villages Terroirs du Mâconnais 2020

Bret Brothers Mâcon-Villages Terroirs du Mâconnais is an assemblage from parcels across five appellations of the southern Mâconnais.

The Bret brothers run both their own domaine, La Soufrandière, and a small négoce label under the family name, working only with growers who farm to their standards. This cuvée blends parcels at Mâcon-Fuissé and Chaintré with fruit from Viré-Clessé La Verchère, Saint-Véran En Combe and Pouilly-Fuissé En Carementrant, all good terroirs, with the vines averaging close to fifty years of age. In addition, the last fifty litres of each of La Soufrandière's premium wines, biodynamic and unfiltered, are blended into this Mâcon-Villages. The vineyards are certified organic. The 2020 was raised half in tank and half in older barrels for eleven months before bottling; there is no new oak. It may be the starting point of the range, but it sets a marker for the appellation.

Ready now and good for three or four years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, roast chicken or a fresh goat's cheese.
