Bubb + Pooley WKR Pinot Noir 2022

Bubb + Pooley WKR Pinot Noir is an estate-grown Tasmanian Pinot Noir with a portion of whole-bunch fermentation.

Bubb + Pooley is the Tasmanian label of winemaker Anna Pooley and her partner Justin Bubb, working alongside the family's Pooley Wines in southern Tasmania. The WKR wines come from the label's own estate vineyard rather than purchased fruit. Pinot Noir is Tasmania's signature red grape, and the island's cool maritime climate and slow ripening give it fine tannin and bright acidity. Around 20% of the fruit is fermented as whole bunches, with stems included, which adds structure, lift and a savoury edge, while the rest is destemmed. The wine is matured in French oak barrel and bottled under screwcap.

Fine-boned and savoury, it suits roast duck, quail and mushroom risotto; serve slightly cool at around 15 degrees.
