Cantina del Pino Dolcetto d'Alba is a vibrant, approachable red from a producer far better known for its benchmark Barbaresco.

Cantina del Pino is a small, family-run estate on the Ovello hillside of Barbaresco in Piedmont's Langhe, with vineyard holdings that have belonged to the Vacca family for generations. Long guided by the late Renato Vacca, who took over the property in 1997 after years spent working alongside the growers of Produttori del Barbaresco, the estate is known for a hands-off, terroir-driven style: old vines, minimal use of chemicals in the vineyard, and gentle, traditional winemaking in the cellar. Alongside its prized Barbaresco crus, the property also farms Dolcetto, the everyday red of the Langhe hills, grown on the same fog-shrouded slopes.

This is an easy-drinking, food-friendly red, well suited to casual meals, cured meats and everyday Piedmontese fare.
