Cantina Viticoltori Senesi Aretini Chianti Riserva is a Sangiovese red from the broad Chianti zone of central Tuscany.

Chianti DOCG covers a wide sweep of Tuscany, taking in the provinces of Siena, Arezzo, Florence, Pisa, Pistoia and Prato, and it is Sangiovese that defines it. The variety ripens late and has thin skins, and it takes its character from site far more than from any winemaking flourish, which is why Tuscan growers have built such a detailed hierarchy of zones and sub-zones around it. A Riserva must spend a minimum of two years ageing before release, a requirement written into the denomination's rules. The name of this bottling points to a growers' co-operative drawing its fruit from the hills of the Siena and Arezzo provinces, the eastern side of the Chianti country.

Made for the table rather than the cellar, it suits ragu, grilled meats and pecorino; serve at around 17 degrees.
