Description
Description
Catalina Sounds Chardonnay comes from the estate's Sound of White vineyard and a grower site in the Wairau Valley.
Marlborough is known for Sauvignon Blanc, but its Chardonnay, picked from clay and loess soils in the Waihopai Valley and the silt of the eastern Wairau, gives a finer, more savoury wine than the region's reputation suggests. Catalina Sounds was established in 2005 and is led by winemaker Matthew Ward. The wine is barrel-fermented with lees work to build texture.
Serve at 12 degrees with roast chicken, rich fish or a soft cheese. Drink over the next five years.
