Description

Cep by Cep Anjou Rouge is a straightforward Cabernet Franc from organically farmed shale slopes in western Anjou.

Anjou Rouge covers a broad swathe of country around Angers, and the better parcels sit on the dark schist and shale of the Anjou Noir, west of the city. This wine comes from gravelly shale soils just across the river from Savennières, hand-harvested from organically tended vines. The intent is a vin de soif rather than a wine of ambition: fruit for early enjoyment, made with as little intervention between vineyard and bottle as possible. The fruit was fully destemmed, fermented in stainless steel and raised there for only six months, with no oak at any stage and no sulphur added until bottling. The result keeps the leafy, red-fruited directness that Cabernet Franc gives when it is picked ripe and left alone.

Drink young, over the next two or three years. Serve lightly chilled at 14-16°C with charcuterie, grilled sausages or a goat's cheese salad.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
