Champagne Bérêche et Fils Brut Réserve Vieilles Vignes Non Filtrée is the family's unfiltered old-vine cuvée, bottled here in magnum.

Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche farm around ten hectares from Ludes on the Montagne de Reims, and this wine shows the detail they bring to what many houses treat as a workhorse bottling. The release is based on the 2021 harvest, whose low yields mean the base year makes up 55 per cent of the blend, with the balance drawn from the two preceding vintages. It divides into 35 per cent Pinot Noir from Ludes, Trépail and Ormes, 35 per cent Chardonnay from across the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, and 30 per cent Meunier from Mareuil-le-Port. Ludes and Trépail bring tension to offset the depth of the Marne fruit and the reserve wines, with average vine age around forty years. The hand-picked fruit ferments naturally in barrel, ages in barrel and tank, then rests 36 months sur lattes before hand disgorgement with roughly 5 g/L dosage.

Taut and focused, it drinks well now and will keep for years in magnum; serve with oysters, roast chicken or Comté at about 8°C.
