Description
Champagne Bérêche et Fils Une Champagne Millésime is the house's tribute to the old tradition of blending across Champagne's sub-regions, limited to 850 bottles per release.
Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche farm at Ludes on the Montagne de Reims and have built their reputation on plot-by-plot vinification, which makes this deliberate cross-regional assemblage something of a counterpoint. Raphaël Bérêche has explained it as the product of twenty years of study, tasting, soil analysis and parcel work, offered as a tribute to what produced Champagne's golden age. First made from the 2014 harvest, the wine is drawn from the cellar's finest barrels from Beaux Regards, Le Cran, Avize, Cramant, Ambonnay, Mailly and Aÿ. The blend is roughly half Chardonnay and half Pinot Noir, and the wine is disgorged after 102 months on lees. The label follows the old Champagne convention of giving the region's name greater prominence than the producer's.
Long-aged and complete on release, it will hold for years; serve with roast poultry, lobster or a mature hard cheese at about 8°C.
