Champagne Jacques Selosse Grand Cru Millésime 2012 Disg. Apr. 23

Champagne Jacques Selosse Grand Cru Millésime is the estate's vintage wine, now drawn from all six of the villages in which it holds vines.

The cuvée began life as a blanc de blancs from two Avize plots, Le Mont de Cramant and Les Chantereines, and has since broadened to take in fruit from Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Ambonnay. The blend is 70 per cent Chardonnay and 30 per cent Pinot Noir. Where the estate's Substance sets out to remove vintage from the equation through a perpetual blend, the Millésime does the opposite and fixes a single year, given the same treatment applied throughout the cellar: very ripe fruit from low-yielding vines, natural fermentation and ageing in oak, and minimal dosage. This release matured on lees in bottle for ten years before being disgorged in April 2023, an unusually long élevage even by Selosse standards.

Still relatively closed and worth keeping several more years. Serve at around 8°C with roast chicken, lobster or a dish of morels.
