This magnum of Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs is bottled without dosage, from the family's chalkiest sites at Chavot and Épernay.

Laherte Frères are growers in the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, where Aurélien Laherte farms biodynamically and bottles a range of cuvées drawn from a patchwork of small parcels. This one is 100 per cent Chardonnay. The soils are rich in chalk and chalky clay marl, with pockets of flint and schist: the chalk drives the saline, citric line that gives the wine its energy, while the clay balances that with fruit weight and texture. Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs Premiers Crus of Vertus and Voipreux has recently been added to the blend. This release is built on the 2022 harvest with 40 per cent reserve wine from the two preceding years, disgorged in October 2025 after an additional seven months in bottle. A magnum will hold it in good stead for longer still.

Drinking now and worth five to ten years in magnum. Serve at 8°C with oysters, sashimi or a plate of prawns.
