Description
Champagne Laherte Frères Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature is an even split of Pinot Noir and Meunier, bottled without dosage.
Laherte Frères farm in the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay and the Marne Valley, where Meunier is the workhorse variety and Pinot Noir plays a supporting role, so a blanc de noirs sits naturally in their range alongside the Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature. This cuvée is half Pinot Noir from Le Breuil in the Marne Valley and half Pinot Meunier from Chavot and Moussy in the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay. In the cellar Aurélien Laherte ferments the vins clairs naturally in aged barrel and foudre, allows the wine to complete its malolactic conversion, and bottles it without dosage in order, as he puts it, to respect fruit intensity and mineral freshness. It was disgorged in April 2022. Being a blanc de noirs from these villages, it is a fuller, redder-fruited style than the house’s Chardonnay bottlings.
Ready now and good for three or four years. Serve at 8°C with roast pork, duck rillettes or a mushroom tart.
