Description
Les Longues Voyes is Laherte Frères' blanc de noirs, made from a single hectare of biodynamic Pinot Noir at Chamery in the Montagne de Reims.
This is only the third release of Aurélien Laherte's Pinot Noir blanc de noirs, and it is a limited bottling. The name translates as the long way, a reference both to the twenty-five kilometres between the Laherte cellars at Chavot and the vineyard, and to the wine's extended ageing: 18 months in barrel followed by 18 to 20 months in bottle. The site belongs to a good friend of Laherte's and is farmed biodynamically, its thirty-five-year-old vines rooted in clay and silts over a limestone base. The wine is made from a single four-tonne press load, fermented naturally and matured in old barrels bought from Clos des Épeneaux and Benjamin Leroux. Malolactic fermentation was blocked and the dosage was a low four grams per litre.
Ready now and will repay a few years in the cellar; serve at about 8°C with roast chicken, game birds or a hard alpine cheese.
