Champagne Laherte Frères Ultradition is a Meunier-led extra-brut from organically and biodynamically farmed parcels around Chavot.

Laherte Frères works seven hectares split across the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay and the Vallée de la Marne, from parcels at Chavot, Mancy, Morangis, Le Breuil, Boursault, Moussy and Vaudancourt, with vines averaging thirty years. The fruit is farmed organically and biodynamically. The blend is sixty per cent Meunier, thirty per cent Chardonnay and ten per cent Pinot Noir, with two reserve vintages making up forty per cent of the whole and sixty per cent of the material barrel-aged. Aurélien Laherte ferments naturally in a mixture of vessels, including two fifty-hectolitre Rousseau tronconique casks, old barrels, foudre and concrete, always keeping the wines on lees, with malolactic conversion partly completed at around sixty to seventy per cent. This bottling is based on the 2020 harvest with reserve wine from 2019 and 2018, and was disgorged in January 2023 at 4.5 g/L.

Ready now and good for four or five years. Serve at 8°C with charcuterie, roast chicken or a mushroom tart.
