Description
Champagne Leclerc Briant Rosé Extra Brut is a dry rosé Champagne from a biodynamic house in Épernay, built on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Champagne is the one French appellation where rosé may legally be made by adding still red wine to white, and most houses take that route because it gives them precise control over colour and structure. Leclerc Briant, founded in 1872, farms to certified organic and biodynamic standards and was doing so decades before the region as a whole came round to the idea. Its rosé follows the same winemaking as the rest of the range, with indigenous yeasts, minimal sulphur and extended ageing on lees. Extra Brut means the dosage is capped at six grams of sugar per litre, so the wine finishes dry and the fruit does the work rather than the sweetening.
Serve at around 10 degrees, in a white wine glass, with charcuterie, duck, salmon or a plate of Iberian ham.
