Champagne Pascal Agrapart Grand Cru EXP Blanc de Blancs is made without any added sugar at any stage, which required special dispensation from the appellation authorities.

Agrapart is based at Avize in the Côte des Blancs and works grand cru Chardonnay across the village and its neighbours. In 2002 Pascal Agrapart sought and received permission to make a small quantity of wine with no chaptalisation, no sugar in the liqueur de tirage for the second fermentation, and no dosage at bottling. Omitting sugar from the tirage is normally contrary to appellation rules, which is why the dispensation was needed. In place of sugar he uses must from the same vineyards, so the wine is made entirely from estate-grown grapes. Because the natural sugars are lower, the alcohol does not climb the usual degree and a half during the second fermentation, and the wine finishes around 11.5 to 11.8% rather than the 12.5% of the rest of the range. The cuvée was formerly sold as Expérience, and it ages well. This release is based on 2020 and was disgorged in June 2025.

A Champagne for the table; serve with roast fish, poultry or shellfish at about 8°C, and give it time in the glass.
