Charles Melton The Kirche is a Barossa blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate's Krondorf vineyards.

Charles Melton is a family winery on Krondorf Road in the Barossa Valley, founded in 1984 by Graeme 'Charlie' Melton and run with his wife Virginia. The Kirche takes its name from the German word for church, a nod to the Lutheran heritage of the Krondorf district settled by Silesian immigrants in the nineteenth century. It is a classic Australian pairing of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend with deep roots in the Barossa: Shiraz provides generous, rounded fruit and Cabernet brings structure and a firmer tannic frame. The fruit is grown on the red-brown soils around Krondorf, south of Tanunda, and the wine is matured in oak before bottling under screwcap.

A full-bodied red that suits barbecued steak, lamb chops or a rich pasta ragù; serve at around 17 degrees.
