Chartogne-Taillet Cuvée Sainte Anne is the house's benchmark Champagne, named for the patron saint of Merfy, and bottled here in magnum.

Merfy and Saint-Thierry sit in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, north-west of Reims and well away from the grand cru heartland, on diverse sand-rich limestone soils that give Champagnes of vibrancy and finesse rather than weight. Chartogne-Taillet draws this cuvée from mature parcels across both villages. Each plot is vinified separately and then blended, with the aim of keeping site expression at the front of the wine. The blend is equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, raised in old oak barrels of various sizes with a small proportion in stainless steel. Reserve wine accounts for more than 40 per cent of the assemblage, this release built on the 2018 base, and dosage is around 4.7 grams per litre. The magnum format slows the wine's development in bottle.

Ready now and capable of a decade in magnum. Serve at 8°C with oysters, roast chicken or a hard alpine cheese.
