Description

Château Bellevue Mondotte Grand Cru Classé is a very small production Saint-Émilion from the south-eastern côte, close to La Mondotte.

The property was assembled by Gérard Perse, who had already bought Château Monbousquet and then Château Pavie, and the first vintage under his ownership came at the start of the 2000s. The vineyard is a matter of a few hectares of clay and limestone high on the slope, farmed at very low yields, hand harvested into small crates and sorted rigorously before fermentation. Merlot dominates, with Cabernet Franc and a little Cabernet Sauvignon, and the wine is raised in new French oak. Everything about it is deliberately small in scale, and only a modest number of cases is made in any year, which places it among the rarest bottles of the appellation.

A wine for slow-cooked beef, venison or hard cheeses; give it a long decant and, ideally, several years in the cellar first.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
