Description

Château de La Chaize Brouilly Lieu-dit La Chaize Monopole is a Gamay drawn from a single parcel in Brouilly that the estate owns outright.

The estate lies at Odenas on the slopes below Mont Brouilly, in the largest of the ten Beaujolais crus. Its château was built in the 1670s for François de la Chaize d'Aix, brother of Louis XIV's confessor, with the building attributed to Jules Hardouin-Mansart and the gardens to André Le Nôtre; the vaulted barrel cellar beneath is one of the longest in France. The Gruy family bought the property in 2017 and set about converting the vineyard to organic farming and bottling its best sites separately. A monopole is a vineyard in the hands of a single owner, so everything here comes from one plot, farmed and vinified alone.

It suits duck, roast pork and charcuterie, and rewards a light chill; it will also hold in the cellar for several years.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
