Description

Château Laballe Bas Armagnac is a single-vintage brandy from a Gascon estate held by the same family since 1820.

Armagnac has been distilled in south-west France for at least seven centuries, predating Cognac by some hundred and fifty years, though it has always been the quieter of the two. Château Laballe stands at Parleboscq, between the Landes forest and the Gers river, in the Bas Armagnac terroir. Jean-Dominique Laudet bought the property in 1820 after a career in the spice trade; Cyril Laudet and his wife Julie are the eighth generation to run it. The spirit is distilled in the estate's 1923 wood-fired copper still and aged in Chêne Noir Gascon, 410-litre barrels of local oak whose thick grain adds tannin and spice. It is bottled brut de fût, with no added colour, unfiltered and at its natural strength. This release is entirely Baco.

Serve at room temperature in a tulip glass and give it time to open. It works after a meal with dark chocolate, prunes or a mature hard cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
