Château Latour Les Forts de Latour, 2nd Vin 2017

Château Latour Les Forts de Latour, 2nd Vin is the second wine of Château Latour in Pauillac, and a wine with a following of its own.

It takes its name and most of its fruit from Les Forts de Latour, the estate's vineyards lying a little further from the Gironde than the walled Enclos around the château, together with the lots from the Enclos not selected for the grand vin. First made in 1966, it was conceived as a serious wine rather than an afterthought, and it is vinified and aged in the same cellars, in a mixture of new and used barrels. Since the estate withdrew from the en primeur system after the 2011 vintage, bottles are held back and released only when the château judges them ready to drink.

Serve at 17 degrees with roast beef, lamb or game, decanting an hour or two beforehand.
