Château Poujeaux Moulis 2019

Château Poujeaux is one of the most respected names in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, producing structured, classically styled red Bordeaux from the left bank of the Gironde.

Moulis-en-Médoc is the smallest of the Haut-Médoc's communal appellations, set back from the estuary on a patchwork of deep gravel and clay-limestone soils. Château Poujeaux sits on one of the appellation's best-regarded gravel rises and has long carried the Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel classification, as well as membership of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux. The vineyard is planted to the traditional Médoc blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the estate is widely regarded as one of Moulis' benchmark producers.

A powerful, well-structured claret built for the cellar, it suits roasted meats, game and mature cheeses, and rewards a little patience in the bottle.
