Description
Chionetti Barolo DOCG Bussia Vigna Pianpolvere is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from Bussia, one of the largest and most storied crus in Barolo.
Bussia lies mainly in the commune of Monforte d'Alba and was among the first Barolo vineyards to be bottled under its own name, at a time when almost all Barolo was sold as a blend of sites. Pianpolvere is a long-recognised parcel within it. The zone's individual vineyards were formally mapped and given legal standing in 2010, and Barolo itself must be aged for at least thirty-eight months before release, eighteen of them in wood. Chionetti, known for generations of Dolcetto at Dogliani in the southern Langhe, has more recently taken on holdings in the Barolo hills. Monforte's slopes are among the highest in the zone, climbing well above four hundred metres, and its wines have a long-standing reputation for needing time.
A wine for the cellar; decant and serve at around eighteen degrees with braised beef, game or anything involving truffle.
