Cognac Tesseron Composition 700ml

Composition is Tesseron's first release below XO level, made with no added colour so its hue comes entirely from the older material in the blend.

Cognac is made by distilling a tart, low-alcohol white wine twice in copper pot stills and ageing the spirit in French oak. The Tesseron family built its reputation on holding deep reserves of old Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, and this bottling is an attempt to bring that house character to a younger, more accessible blend. Ugni Blanc is the base variety, as it is for almost all cognac. What sets Composition apart in a crowded price bracket is the refusal to use caramel colouring, standard practice elsewhere: the bright amber tone comes from the proportion of older spirit carried in the blend. The result keeps the vinous, textural quality that runs through the range, and the house tested it thoroughly in classic cocktails before signing off the final assemblage, so it works stirred and shaken as well as neat.

Ready to drink now. Serve neat at room temperature, over a large cube, or in a sidecar or old fashioned.
