Description
Craggy Range Aroha is the winery's flagship Pinot Noir, from a single block on the Te Muna terraces in Martinborough.
Te Muna sits on an old river terrace above the Huangarua, higher and windier than Martinborough's original plantings, on free-draining gravel over clay. Aroha comes from the block the winery judges its best, planted at high density in the Burgundian manner. Craggy Range was founded in 1998 by Terry Peabody with viticulturist Steve Smith MW. Fruit is hand-picked, fermented with whole bunches and native yeast, and matured in French oak.
Serve at 15 degrees with duck, venison or mushroom dishes. It rewards twelve years.
