Description

Craggy Range Te Kahu is a Merlot-led Bordeaux blend from the Gimblett Gravels in Hawke's Bay.

Merlot ripens more readily than Cabernet in New Zealand, which is why the Gravels' Bordeaux blends usually lead with it, filled out by Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Te Kahu is the more approachable of the winery's Gravels reds, made for drinking earlier than Sophia. The fruit is fermented in small vessels and matured in French oak, largely seasoned.

Serve at 17 degrees with roast lamb, beef or a mushroom ragù. Drink over the next eight years.
