Description

Croix & Courbet Côtes du Jura Poulsard is the partnership's first bottling of the variety, from Triassic marls at Pannessières.

Poulsard is the palest and most delicate of the Jura reds, thin-skinned and closer in weight to a dark rosé than to most red wine. David Croix and Damien Courbet source this from the lieu-dit Bois de la Lième in the village of Pannessières, due south of Château-Chalon, where the soils are iridescent lower Triassic marls that Courbet describes as the colour of red wine lees. The vines are now 30 years old. The fruit was destemmed and the wine aged for 18 months, split between six-year-old oak and stainless steel tanks, with no new wood. The result is fine-boned and perfumed, a transparent Jura red with pomegranate and rose-scented character, floral lift and a flinty note on the finish.

Best in its first three to five years; serve lightly chilled at 14-15C with charcuterie, roast pork or a soft washed-rind cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
