Description
David Duband Nuits St Georges is a village red from the most substantial and firmly built commune of the southern Côte de Nuits.
Nuits-Saint-Georges runs for several kilometres either side of the town and is usually read in two halves: the northern sector towards Vosne-Romanée, where soils are lighter and the wines more perfumed, and the southern sector towards Premeaux, where more clay and iron give darker, firmer, slower-maturing reds. Village vineyards occupy the lower slope and the flatter land below the premier crus. Pinot Noir is the only grape. David Duband farms organically from Chevannes in the Hautes-Côtes and is known for working with a high proportion of whole bunches, extracting gently by infusion and ageing in barrel with measured new oak; the bottle is closed with Diam, as across the domaine's range.
Structured and savoury, it suits beef, game and hard cheeses and repays a few years in bottle; serve at around 17 degrees.
