Domaine Alphonse Mellot Sancerre La Moussière 1.5L MAGNUM 2021

Domaine Alphonse Mellot Sancerre La Moussière comes from the estate's home vineyard below the town of Sancerre, and is bottled here in magnum.

La Moussière is one of the great vineyards of the Loire Valley, a gently rolling slope of very rocky, limestone-rich ground lying on the ancient Saint-Doulchard marls that form part of the same Kimmeridgian chain as Chablis. It has been the heart of the Mellot estate for generations, and the family's meticulous biodynamic farming and low yields make it a source of some of the appellation's most striking wines. As usual, half of this cuvée was fermented in large wooden fermenters and raised in oak casks, with the balance fermented and raised in traditional concrete vats before blending; none of that compromises the purity on offer. All of the wine spent roughly twelve months on fine lees, which builds the deep, pulpy texture the bottling is known for.

Drinking now and good for eight years or more in magnum. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, roast chicken or Crottin de Chavignol.
