Description
Poruzots is among the more reserved and longest-lived of Meursault's Premiers Crus, and Jobard farms three small plots in its upper reaches.
Le Poruzot lies at the northern end of the Meursault Premier Cru band, at the point where the slope begins to turn towards the east, and that aspect gives wines that are cooler and more withheld in youth than the Charmes and Genevrières side of the village. Antoine Jobard's three parcels total 0.79 hectares in the upper part of Le Poruzot-Dessus, beneath the Narvaux lieux-dits, planted between 1972 and 1994. The wine is typically the most pungent, earthy and complex Meursault in the domaine's range and one of the slowest to open, a reflection of both site and the house approach of long élevage on lees with restrained new oak. Bibendum imports three versions of this vineyard, from Jobard, Henri Germain and Benjamin Leroux, which makes for an instructive comparison.
Best given five years and drunk across the following fifteen. Serve at 10-12°C with roast pork, smoked fish or gruyère.
