Description
Domaine Camille Thiriet Côte de Nuits-Villages Clos Magny comes from a 0.8-hectare plot at the top of the slope at Corgoloin, sitting almost directly on rock.
Côte de Nuits-Villages covers the vineyards at either end of the Côte de Nuits, including Corgoloin at its southern limit, where prices remain modest relative to the quality the better sites can give. Camille and Matthieu Thiriet founded their domaine in 2017 and have built a following for wines of clarity and lift from these less-heralded appellations. This cuvée comes from a small parcel within the larger Clos de Magny climat. Their plot lies at the top of the slope, 315 metres above sea level, with very little soil over the rock in places, and that thin, stony ground is what makes the site unusual: it gives a wine with more depth and complexity than the appellation usually suggests. The wine is bottled under natural cork.
Approachable after a year or two and good for five to eight; serve at 16°C with roast pork, duck or soft cow's-milk cheese.
