Description
Domaine Camille Thiriet La Montagne is a Côte de Nuits-Villages from a high parcel at Corgoloin, of which only four barrels were made.
Côte de Nuits-Villages covers the vineyards at either end of the Côte de Nuits, and Corgoloin sits at its southern limit, where limestone quarrying still shapes the landscape. This parcel lies on the southern side of the village, quite high on the slope at 280 metres, which keeps the fruit cool and the acidity intact. It should not be confused with the domaine's négociant cuvée Aux Montagnes, which comes from Comblanchien. The wine was vinified with 40 per cent whole bunches, a choice that shows in the aromatic lift and the fine, powdery tannins rather than in any added weight. Production is tiny and the wine is sealed under natural cork. For all the fruit it carries, it stays medium-bodied with a cool, vibrant finish.
Drink from one to two years and hold up to eight. Serve at 16-18°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or mushrooms on toast.
