Description
Domaine Clos de Tart Morey-Saint-Denis is a village wine made entirely from young vines growing inside the grand cru clos itself.
Morey-Saint-Denis sits between Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin and is the smallest of the great Côte de Nuits communes. This cuvée was created in 2018 as a way of protecting the grand cru and premier cru blends, giving the estate somewhere to place fruit from vines it considers too young for the senior wines. It comes essentially from the Cabotte plot at the top right of the vineyard, planted in 2018, blended with the youngest vines elsewhere in the clos. Most of these have been regrafted with massale cuttings taken from the clos itself, material graded as Pinot très fin because it yields least and ripens best. To offset the youth of the plants, cropping is held to around two bunches per vine. This release was fermented with no stems at all and matured in used barrels only.
Ready to drink now and good for five to seven years. Serve at 16-18°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or a mushroom tart.
