Domaine Comte Abbatucci Diplomate Blanc Cuvée Collection 2022

Domaine Comte Abbatucci Diplomate Blanc Cuvée Collection is drawn from the same conservatory plot of rare Corsican white varieties as the rest of the collection range.

Antoine Abbatucci spent the 1960s gathering cuttings of Corsican varieties that had almost vanished from the island and planted them in a conservatory parcel at Casalabriva. His son Jean-Charles makes the Cuvée Collection wines from those plantings, farming biodynamically on decomposed granite in the Taravo valley with horses in the vineyard and sheep grazing the rows. The blend is Vermentinu filled out by other old island whites, among them Biancu Gentile. Fruit is hand picked, fermented with indigenous yeast and raised on lees in vat and old wood, and because the varieties fall outside the appellation rules the wine is bottled as Vin de France.

Full bodied and built on texture rather than aroma, it suits roast fish, poultry in cream and aged cheeses; serve at around 12 degrees.
