Description

Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Cailloux comes from the domaine’s oldest Corcelette vines, on the lieu-dit’s rocky Cailloux soils.

Morgon is the most structured of the ten Beaujolais crus, and Corcelette, on its northern edge, sits on lighter, sandier ground than the famous Côte du Py. Bouland works several parcels there and bottles them separately according to soil, which is how this cuvée and the Sable bottling come to exist side by side. Cailloux takes the oldest vines, planted on the stony ground that gives its name, and produces a firmer and more structured Morgon than the sandier parcels manage. Bouland’s method does not vary across the range: very low yields, hand harvesting and natural whole-bunch fermentation, with little done in the cellar to shape the wine afterwards. This is the first allocation of the Cailloux bottling to come to Australia.

Drinking well now and capable of eight to ten years. Serve at 16-18°C with roast duck, beef bourguignon or a washed-rind cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
