Description

Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Cailloux comes from the rockier ground of the Corcelette lieu-dit, alongside the sandier Sable cuvée.

Corcelette sits on the Chiroubles side of Morgon, on sandy decomposed granite that gives more perfume and rounder tannins than the schist of the Côte du Py. Within it, Bouland separates the parcels by soil: Cailloux for the stones and Sable for the sand. The two have been labelled separately since the 2019 vintage. The vines here are only a little younger than the near-centenarians that go into the Sable bottling, and the stonier ground gives a slightly firmer, more structured Morgon. Winemaking follows the domaine's usual pattern of whole-bunch fermentation with indigenous yeasts, foot-treading late in the ferment and ageing in old wood, so the difference between the two wines is a matter of soil rather than cellar practice.

Approachable now and worth five to eight years. Serve at 16°C with roast duck, charcuterie or a mushroom and thyme tart.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
