Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Délys 1.5L MAGNUM 2021

Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Délys, here in magnum, is the younger-vine cuvée from the lieu-dit directly behind the grower's own house.

Les Délys forms part of the Corcelette climat, downslope from Bellevue and immediately behind Bouland's residence and winery — his back garden, in effect. He splits his vines here into two cuvées: an old-vine bottling raised in foudre, and this version from vines planted in 1978 and 1980, raised in concrete. The soil is the deep granitic sand typical of Les Délys, and it is that sand rather than the winemaking that gives these wines their roundness and almost Burgundian texture. Concrete élevage keeps the fruit clear and unmarked by wood. The result is a refined Morgon with succulent wild berry fruit and a note of nettle spice, closing racy and vibrant with only a hint of tannin.

Enjoyable now and, in magnum, good for a decade. Serve at 16–18°C with charcuterie, roast chicken or grilled sausages.
