Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Délys 3L DOUBLE MAGNUM 2023

Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Délys, in three-litre double magnum, comes from vines planted in 1978 and 1980 directly behind the family winery.

The lieu-dit Les Délys forms part of the Corcelette climat, downslope from Bellevue and immediately behind Daniel Bouland's house and cellar. As elsewhere, he splits his vines into two wines: an old-vine cuvée raised in foudre and this younger-vine version raised in concrete. The vines here were planted in 1978 and 1980 in the deep granitic sand typical of Les Délys, and that depth of soil brings roundness and an almost Burgundian texture to the wine. Farming is by hand with very low yields, and fermentation is natural and whole-bunch, as it is throughout the range. Ripe yet lively, this is one of the more refined wines in the cellar, with a structure a shade firmer than the Corcelette bottling, closed by dark mineral notes and a crack of pepper.

It drinks well after two years and will keep for eight to ten; serve lightly chilled with charcuterie, grilled sausages or roast pork at 14-16°C.
