Description

Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Délys Vignes de 1926 comes from a single hectare of century-old vines on the Morgon-Chiroubles border.

This wine used to reach Australia simply as Morgon Vieilles Vignes; it is now labelled with the lieu-dit, Les Délys, and the planting date of the parcel. The site sits at the end of the Corcelette valley on the boundary with Chiroubles, a south-east facing slope planted at 10,000 vines per hectare in 1926. The vines are gnarled and yield very little, and Bouland has said he would replant if he could source the grafting material he needs. Winemaking is the domaine's standard practice — whole bunches, indigenous yeasts, natural fermentation, foot-treading late in the ferment and ageing in old wood rather than new. The wine is always dense and chewy in youth and needs time. Depth and length of this order are rare anywhere in Beaujolais.

Built for the cellar: give it five to ten years. Serve at 16-18°C with roast beef, game birds or a mature hard cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
