Description

Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Pré Jourdan comes from a tiny parcel of 70-year-old vines on the Morgon-Fleurie border, enough to fill a single large cask.

Morgon is the sturdiest of the Beaujolais crus, and Daniel Bouland is among the growers who have made the case for bottling its lieux-dits separately. Pré Jourdan is a recent acquisition, sitting where Morgon meets Fleurie, and the vines are around 70 years old. The soils are predominantly granitic sand, as in Bouland’s Corcelette parcels, but they run deeper here, and the result is a fleshier and more overtly aromatic Morgon than the domaine’s other cuvées. The parcel is small enough that the wine fills just one large cask, a relatively young Rousseau foudre, so the raising is entirely neutral. Expect succulent strawberry and cherry-scented fruit carried by a slick of fine, silky tannins and a long, perfumed finish.

Drinking well now and holding for six to eight years. Serve at 16-18°C with charcuterie, roast chicken or a mushroom tart.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
