Description
Domaine de Cambes, Côtes de Bourg is a right bank Bordeaux grown on the slopes above the Gironde, from the family behind Le Tertre Roteboeuf.
Bourg is one of the oldest vineyard districts in Bordeaux, planted well before the Médoc was drained, its clay and limestone slopes rising steeply above the water where the Dordogne and the Garonne meet to form the Gironde. The vines at Cambes sit below the natural amphitheatre of Roc de Cambes, the property François Mitjavile took on after making his name at Le Tertre Roteboeuf in Saint-Emilion. The approach is consistent across the family's estates: Merlot with a share of Cabernet Franc, picked as late as the season allows in pursuit of full ripeness, then handled with as little intervention as possible and matured in barrel.
Serve at 16 to 18 degrees with roast lamb, duck or a mushroom dish; it is approachable early but will hold for a decade.
