Domaine de l'Arlot Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos de l'Arlot is the domaine's second monopole, the walled premier cru that gives the estate its name.

The Clos de l'Arlot covers about four hectares at Prémeaux-Prissey, at the southern limit of Nuits-Saint-Georges, planted on steep, shallow soils over hard limestone with a terraced upper section and a small parcel of white varieties alongside the Pinot Noir. The red is the more perfumed and finer-framed of the two monopoles, where the Clos des Forêts is the sterner. Fermentation runs on indigenous yeasts with a high proportion of whole bunches, extraction is by gentle infusion, and the wine is matured in barrel with restrained new oak, all of which suits a site that gives lift and florality rather than mass. It makes a useful argument against the reputation Nuits-Saint-Georges once had for rusticity.

Approachable earlier than most premier cru Nuits and capable of ageing well. Serve at 16–18°C with roast quail, herbed pork loin or a mushroom galette.
